Gastric bypass procedure, also known as gastric bypass. Y-shaped is a type of weight loss surgery that involves making a small pouch in the stomach and connecting the newly created pouch directly into the small intestine. After gastric bypass, the ingested food will pass into the small pouch of the stomach and directly into the small intestine, bypassing most of the stomach and the first part of the small intestine. This leads to a decrease in the functional volume of the stomach accompanied by a physiological and physical change.

Gastric bypass is one of the most common types of bariatric surgery. Gastric bypass is used to help you lose excess weight and reduce the risk of potentially life-threatening weight-related health problems, including type 2 diabetes, gastroesophageal reflux disease, sleep apnea, and more.
